This curricula is an opportunity for fathers and soon-to-be fathers under 26 to learn or improve their parenting skills. The 10-week course is a product of the University of Michigan Zero to Thrive Program. The Corner’s Fatherhood Coordinator, Darryl Johnson, gives insight on how this course can provide an essential role in the development of both the father and their child(ren).
“Supported, equipped, encouraged! That’s our purpose with this 10-week fatherhood course,” Johnson said. “We are actualizing this reality for young fathers, and the far-reaching impact of this endeavor is nearly immeasurable.”
The Fraternity of Fathers course includes adventure therapy principles to deliver attachment theory-based concepts in an interactive, fun, and supportive format. The program will support fathers as important figures in their children’s life, as research supports the importance of a father figure in a child’s life.
