Edwards has been elevated to Social Work Services Manager, previously serving as a therapist with The Corner
YPSILANTI, Mich. (cornerhealth.org) -- The Corner Health Center has elevated longtime social worker Jonathan Edwards to Social Work Services Manager, Monday, April 29. He had previously held the title of Behavioral Health Therapist at The Corner Health Center, starting with The Corner back in 2019.
A social worker by trade, Edwards leads our behavioral health department and oversees the department’s strategic trajectory moving forward. Prior to his employment here in Downtown Ypsilanti, Edwards worked in a similar capacity with Ann Arbor Consultation Services. Edwards began his career in Maryland and continued in Atlanta before coming to the Mitten.
A native of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Edwards earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Morehouse College (2005) and his master’s of social work from Howard University (2008).
"I’m excited about serving as manager of the social work department here at The Corner," Edwards said. "My primary goal is to lead us in our provision of quality mental health and care management services to our patients. One area of focus is raising awareness amongst our patients and the greater community that these services are available and beneficial, and effectively dismantling any barriers to their access. I want the community to always know that we are prepared to meet their mental health needs with compassion and competency. I’m also concerned with helping to create the kind of work environment at The Corner that attracts and retains skilled practitioners and allows them the space to flourish."
