Student Help & Healing Center
The Student Help & Healing Center (SHHC) has been a part of the Sturgis community for over 10 years. Though the clinic has undergone many changes during that time, our goal has always been to provide accessible, high-quality health care to the youth of our community and surrounding areas.

- Located at 1555 E Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49092 - in what some might remember as the old Miller's Grocery Store building.

- We are open year-round, five days a week
- M, T, Th, and F from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and on W from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Clinical Services:
We offer English language and interpreter-assisted Spanish-speaking primary care services. Primary care services include:
- Well-child checkups, also known as annual physicals
- Acute and chronic care management
- Sports physicals
- Sick visits
- Vaccinations
- Minor consented care visits: Per Michigan law, minor consented care allows access to contraception, STI, pregnancy testing, and some mental health services for adolescents under the age of 18 without parental/guardian consent.
- We accept any and all insurances and will not turn any young person away regardless of availability to pay
- Medicaid application assistance

Johanna Orca-Handyside, PA
Hello! I am a Sturgis native and the primary care provider at the Student Help & Healing Center. I graduated from the Western Michigan University Physician Assistant program in 2020 and have been practicing for over 5 years with experience in family and internal medicine. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and believe this is a right and not a privilege. Outside of the clinic I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and training for my 2nd marathon.
Brianna O'Brien
Hello my name is Brianna. I am a medical assistant at the Student Help & Healing Center. I have had the honor of serving our community through the clinic for the last 10 years. I am grateful to be able to work alongside Johanna as we provide quality care to the adolescents in our community. When I am not in the clinic, you may find me walking my dogs, spending time with family, or baking a sweet treat.
